Alain Delon: His old dog will not be put down

Alain Delon’s old dog Loubo is allowed to live on. Fans and animal rights activists were worried about an interview the film star gave.

The fate of the film star Alain Delon (1935-2024), who died on Sunday (18 August) in his house in Douchy, Loiret, briefly worried fans.

Worrying interview

In an interview with “Paris Match” in 2018, the French actor expressed his wish that his dog would follow him into death at the end of his life:

“If I die before him, I would ask the vet to let us go together. He will put him to sleep so that he can die in my arms. I prefer that to knowing that he will die so painfully at my grave,” Delon said at the time.

Brigitte Bardot Foundation: “Don’t worry about Loubo”

: “Don’t worry about Loubo! Many of you have sent us messages about Loubo’s future […]’He has his home and his family,’ confirmed Alain Delon’s relatives, who will take care of him. Loubo will of course not be put down,” posted the foundation headed by former French film star Brigitte Bardot (89) on X.

The friendship between Alain Delon and Brigitte Bardot, who were also united by their love of animals, transcended time and distance. In an interview with the magazine on August 20, BB, as she is also known, paid tribute to her long-time friend: “I am devastated, destroyed by the disappearance of someone I have always considered a friend and even more an accomplice, even my alter ego. Alain closes a chapter of cinema that is gradually disappearing and that we miss so much.”

Last respects on Saturday in Douchy

Meanwhile, the deceased’s eldest son, actor Anthony Delon (59), also has a photo of the dog. There is no commentary, but Loubo can be seen lying in front of the property in Douchy, which is embedded in a large park. Anthony Delon is preparing his father’s funeral from here on August 24th.

As requested by Alain Delon, the funeral will take place on Saturday at around 5 p.m. in the chapel he had built on his estate in Douchy. It will be presided over by Monsignor Di Falco in front of only about 40 people. He will then be buried in the place he had planned in the chapel, to rest next to his other beloved dogs.

The award-winning artist, born on November 8, 1935 in Sceaux in the northern French region of Île-de-France, was 88 years old. “He passed away peacefully in his house in Douchy surrounded by his three children and his family,” reported “Paris Match” and others.
