Pop singer Melanie Müller has been sentenced to a fine for showing the Hitler salute. The defendant was guilty of using symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations because she raised her right arm, said Judge Lucas Findeisen of the Leipzig District Court. The court also sentenced the former jungle queen for drug possession and imposed a total fine of 160 daily rates of 500 euros each, a total of 80,000 euros.

According to the prosecution, Müller had shown the Hitler salute several times at a concert in September 2022. In terms of the sentence, the court went well beyond the prosecutor’s request. The prosecutor had demanded 95 daily rates of 60 euros each. The defense had pleaded for an acquittal on both charges. The verdict is not yet final.
Müller was born in Oschatz, Saxony. In 2014, she won the eighth season of the RTL jungle show “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” and has since appeared in numerous TV formats. She performs as a pop singer in Mallorca, among other places.
