Online condolence book for Richard Lugner: Priscilla Presley also among the mourners

She was the last star companion at the Opera Ball – now Priscilla Presley has said goodbye to her “wonderful host” Richard Lugner.

In February of this year, the Austrian building contractor Richard Lugner walked the dance floor at the Vienna Opera Ball with the American star Priscilla Presley (79). The ex-wife of the legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley (1935-1977) was the last dazzling star guest of the cheerful “mortar” Lugner, as it turned out. He died on August 12th at the age of 91. Lugner’s relatives had a memorial set up in his honor – and there is now also a touching message from his final Opera Ball companion.

“Dear Lugner family, I am deeply sorry for your loss,” says the condolence letter on behalf of Priscilla Presley. “My heart is with you and your friends during this difficult time. The time I spent with Richard was truly a joy and attending the Vienna Opera Ball was an incomparable experience. Richard was a wonderful host and quickly became a dear friend. I will always remember the last dance with him. His absence is a great loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.”

Big farewell planned for the Viennese original

Details of the planned memorial service in honor of the Viennese original Richard Lugner were announced by his family around ten days ago. The funeral will take place on August 31st in the presence of closest family and friends.

Beforehand, a memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna from 9 a.m., including a public display of the body. “All Viennese, all of Austria and beyond” are invited to say goodbye to Lugner together, it continues. As the “Kronen Zeitung” also reports, the coffin with the deceased will later be carried along the Ringstrasse in a vehicle.

The funeral procession will then continue to the Lugner City shopping center, where the public part of the funeral ceremony will end. The actual burial will then take place at the Grinzing cemetery after a service at the Kaasgraben church in the Döbling district.
