The study concluded that cats’ outdoor behavior generally does not stray too far from their home. “Cats spend an average of 15 minutes outside 80% of their time outdoors within 50 meters of the house from their owners, indicating that their impact is mostly local and primarily affects wildlife near homes,” the researchers said.
The maximum distance recorded was 352 metersalthough experts clarified that these cases were exceptional, as most cats did not venture so far. Therefore, if a cat is away for a long time, it is very likely that it is close to home. In fact, it was observed that many of them prefer to spend time resting in their own gardens.
