A little time together in the evening sounds nice. The fact that people often don’t feel like it has a lot to do with what (didn’t) happen during the day, our author believes.
Recently I was sitting at my hairdresser’s. My lion’s mane needed trimming. In the chair next to me a young woman was getting new blonde highlights. Beaming with joy she told the hairdresser that she had moved in with her boyfriend.
“But he can’t clean and tidy up,” she says. I prick up my ears. “Two weeks ago he changed the bed sheets. Yesterday I asked him to change them again. But he didn’t want to,” she continues. So she quickly did it herself.
I shudder. “Nip it in the bud,” I want to shout to her. Shake her awake.
