Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck: Jane Fonda suspected it could fail

Jane Fonda is 86 years old and has been married three times. Apparently she had a feeling that the revival of her love with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck could fail.

In February 2024, the documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” was released, which tells the life of Jennifer Lopez and her path to self-love over the past decades in her own words. A sentence that is already mentioned in the trailer is: “The price of aging is wisdom” and Jane Fonda, who also speaks in the documentary, obviously has a lot of that.

They have been friends for around twenty years. Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez met in 2004 when they worked together on the film “Monster-in-Law”. In this romantic comedy, Jennifer Lopez played the lead role of Charlie Cantilini, while Jane Fonda played her future mother-in-law, Viola Fields. It was Fonda’s return to the screen after a 15-year break from acting. When J.Lo made a documentary about her life, it was only natural for her long-time friend Jane Fonda to have her say in it.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are said to have lived their relationship too publicly

A large part of Jennifer Lopez’s life revolved around Ben Affleck, and in 2021 they entered into a relationship for the second time in almost 20 years. This time they got married and in the past few days it was announced that the marriage failed. Jennifer Lopez is said to have filed for divorce. But apparently her long-time friend Fonda had concerns in advance, which she had expressed in the documentary. The 86-year-old said benevolently: “I want you to know that – I don’t know exactly why – I care about you and Ben and I really, really, really want this to work.”

But she has “concerns” that the couple is focusing too much on the public impact of some kind of fairytale romance and too little on themselves, the “true and real” part of their relationship. “It feels very much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living,” Fonda told Lopez. “You know, every other photo is of the two of you kissing and hugging.”

At the time, Lopez laughed off Fonda’s concerns and defended her behavior, saying that we were “just living our lives.” But in the end, Jane Fonda apparently had a sixth sense that this love revival was on shaky ground.
