Alain Delon has found his final resting place: 50 guests said goodbye to the French film star on Saturday at his country estate. Numerous fans gathered outside the property.
Police had already set up roadblocks in the morning near the La Brûlerie estate in the village of Douchy, where Delon died on Sunday at the age of 88. The airspace above the actor’s estate was also to remain closed for the entire weekend.
At the request of the deceased, only about 50 people were invited to the funeral service in the private chapel of La Brûlerie. In addition to Delon’s children Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien, as well as other relatives, there were also some of the actor’s close friends. They were not allowed to take their mobile phones into the chapel.
According to sources close to Delon, his ex-wife Rosalie von Breemen, the mother of his children Anouchka and Alain-Fabien, was among the mourners. Several actresses, such as Nicole Calfan, Géraldine Danon and Muriel Robin, had also confirmed their attendance. Actress Claudia Cardinale, however, did not attend the funeral “due to too much grief,” her agent told AFP.

Before his death, Delon had wished to be buried in a private crypt on his country estate near his beloved dogs. The funeral was to be closed to the public.
Delon died on Sunday in the presence of his children. Since then, fans of the film legend have been gathering in front of the country estate and laying flowers and condolence cards. They were “very touched by the passion and affection shown by his fans in France and around the world,” said Delon’s children.
The actor became famous in the 60s and 70s through films such as “The Swimming Pool” with Romy Schneider, “Borsalino” with Jean-Paul Belmondo, “The Cruel Angel” by Jean-Pierre Melville and “The Leopard” by Luchino Visconti.
