Rebecca Mir: Presenter sticks to her signature look

Although her style has become more practical since the birth of her son, Rebecca Mir remains true to her dark mane.

Since her breakthrough with “Germany’s next Topmodel” 13 years ago, Rebecca Mir (32) has hardly changed. Her long, dark mane in particular has become her absolute trademark. “I love my long hair very much. I think it would be very difficult for me to part with it,” reveals the presenter and model on the occasion of her role as the new brand face of L’Oréal Paris Elnett.

In her private life, the 32-year-old prefers to wear a ponytail. Especially since her son was born. “My personal style has changed a lot since I became a mother, because it just has to be practical.” In an interview, Mir explains how she and her husband Massimo Sinató (43) manage to juggle work, the red carpet and family life.

Whether in front of the camera or on the catwalk – you are used to being perfectly styled on a regular basis. How much time do you invest in your private life?

Rebecca Mir: In my job, I can spend two to three hours in the makeup room, but in my private life, I always have to do things very quickly and very easily. My personal style has changed a lot since I became a mother, because it just has to be practical. I often tie my hair in a ponytail. Since I have baby hairs, I always have to fix them with hairspray. I think I’ve been using the L’Oréal Paris Elnett hairspray since I was 15.

Shorter hair would certainly be more practical in everyday life. Have you ever thought about parting with your long mane?

Me: I have to admit that I have actually thought about it and keep thinking about cutting my hair. A long bob is really popular at the moment and I think the look is very chic, I like it. But I love my long hair and I think it would be very difficult for me to part with it. However, you can also create a style like this by putting your hair up, using hairpieces and creating different hairstyles.

How do you think your husband would react to a long bob?

Me: Luckily, my husband likes me with any hairstyle.

Curls, braids or completely straight: Massimó has already surprised us with a number of hairstyles. Does he ask you for advice beforehand?

Me: When it comes to styling, my husband and I talk about things quite often. Especially what we like and what goes together, and of course he asks me about that too. Or when we go on the red carpet together, for example, he adapts to my style a little because I always know exactly what I’m going to wear pretty quickly. He then makes sure that what he wears also goes with my outfit.

Your son seems to have inherited his father’s hair?

Mir: Yes, we all have curls in the family. We are a curly bunch.

You both travel a lot for work. How do you manage to ensure that your family life doesn’t suffer?

Me: I travel a lot for work, but I try to plan my time so that I’m only away for one or two days at most, and have a few days off in between. I often take my son with me, for example to Munich. When I present “taff”, we spend the whole week together in Munich and have a great time there. We now know lots of playgrounds all over Germany and know where the best places to have a good time are. We also go on trips to museums and go to swimming pools or outdoor pools – so we know our way around pretty well.

What was the longest time you were separated from your son?

Mir: I have never been away from my son for more than two days, and that has only been since he turned three. He is now in kindergarten and I notice that he is becoming more and more independent. I don’t want to be away from him for long. I prefer to take him with me and discover the world together with him, and he finds that really exciting. He has also been on sets with me. I think he really likes the camera himself, even if he won’t necessarily be in front of the camera.

With so much action, is there even time left for yourself?

Me: I have to admit that I have neglected time for myself a little, but I have now started exercising more intensively again: gym and kickboxing. That really is my me-time, when I can let off steam, I enjoy it and I enjoy it. I am now devoting myself to it more intensively and more.

And what do you like to do most when you have a day all to yourself?

Mir: I don’t have a day for myself. I think as a mother you feel like you’re always available 24/7. You have to be there and present. I don’t know what I would do, what was it like before having a child? It feels like it was so long ago, I don’t even remember. But I would probably just sleep a lot, I love sleeping. (laughs)
