In an Instagram post, DJ Felix Jaehn has cancelled all concerts and shows until further notice. Jaehn cites mental problems as the reason, which will now be addressed professionally.
When Felix Jaehn released a remix of the song “Cheerleader” by Jamaican rapper Omi in 2014, the artist from Hamburg achieved worldwide success. Ten years later, Jaehn has canceled all planned concerts and shows. Jaehn “kept secret that I wasn’t feeling well inside,” according to the post on Instagram. “I didn’t even realize the extent of the pain until I finally got professional help,” Jahn continues. It is now finally “time to rest. It’s time to heal.”

Jaehn last made headlines in April of this year. The DJ came out as non-binary. “I prefer to use the name Fee at the moment because I’ve joined the non-binary people and want to have a gender-neutral name,” Jaehn said at the time. The musician also explained that he prefers the non-binary pronoun “dey/denen” in German – based on the English “they/them”.
The interplay between world fame and mental health has been a theme in Jaehn’s life for some time, as can be seen in an interview with star 2021. “I was just too young. World fame came before I had time to find myself in my life. I was an insecure person who stumbled into his success and fell,” said Jaehn. When “Cheerleader” climbed the charts, Jaehn was just 20 years old. Jaehn often “crashed mentally” after a concert. The loneliness between performances also had a negative impact on his mental health.
In an interview in 2021, Jaehn explained strategies that help in dealing with mental health problems. There was talk of a change in diet and daily routines. But all this awareness of one’s own body seems not to have been enough. Jaehn is “too vulnerable to perform,” says the current Instagram post. “My body and mind have given me a sign. It’s time to listen.” Jaehn received a lot of support in the comments under the post. The tenor of most fans: health is the most important thing.
