Lil Baby: US rapper arrested in Las Vegas

Grammy winner Lil Baby has been arrested in Las Vegas. The rapper is said to have carried a concealed weapon.

US rapper Lil Baby (29) was arrested in Las Vegas. The Grammy winner, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, according to court documents.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed to the magazine that Lil Baby was arrested after an incident around 5 a.m. on Monday (August 26). What exactly happened is not known.

Lil Baby released after bail

In a statement, the rapper’s lawyers said they were “actively investigating” why the 29-year-old was arrested in the first place, despite having a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Georgia. According to the report, while it is legal to openly carry a weapon in the US state of Nevada, the state does not recognize concealed weapon permits from several other states, including Georgia.

Lil Baby is reportedly free after posting $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1.

Not his first offense

It is apparently not Lil Baby’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested several times as a teenager, and in 2014 he was sentenced to two years in prison for marijuana. In 2021, he was arrested by the French police on the sidelines of Paris Fashion Week for a drug offense and had to pay a fine.

Lil Baby celebrated chart success with his albums “Harder Than Ever” (2018), “My Turn” (2020) and “It’s Only Me” (2022) as well as the singles “Yes Indeed” (2018) with Drake (37) and “Do We Have a Problem?” with Nicki Minaj (41). The rapper received the Grammy for “Best Melodic Rap Performance” in 2022 for his song “Hurricane” with Kanye West (47) and The Weeknd (34).
