US actress Brooke Shields says she feels overwhelmed by everyday life without her daughters. “I’m very scared,” said the 59-year-old, whose younger daughter has now moved out to study at college like her older sister, to the US magazine “People”. “Suddenly they’re not yours anymore,” Shields added. “When you realize that they are independent people, you get to know them all over again.” The actress (“The Blue Lagoon”) has two daughters aged 18 and 21 with her husband Chris Henchy.
On Monday, she announced in an emotional video on Instagram that her “two chicks have now left the nest.” Shields explained in tears: “It’s not easy for the mothers.” Back in May, she said that she still had to get used to the idea of a childless everyday life.
Grier, 18, who has now moved out, joked in an interview with “People” that she worries about her mother as much as she worries about herself. Rowan, 21, added that Shields was “a wreck” when she moved out a year ago and that she should be flooded with work to distract herself. She jokingly added that her parents could use the time alone at home to “rekindle the flame.”
