On his summer trip, the Chancellor is touring his constituency. Now he visited the wrestlers in Potsdam and Scholz talked about his martial arts experiences.
During a visit to a wrestling club, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) looked back on a short episode of his own in martial arts. “I started boxing with a friend,” said Scholz at the Germania wrestling club in Potsdam. It was just a quick taster: after “just two hours,” Scholz hung up his boxing gloves.
The Chancellor’s sports are mainly rowing and running
He stuck to the sports that he “gradually picked up,” Scholz explained. These were mainly rowing and running – sports that he started quite late, however. The Chancellor says he does sports several times a week. He goes jogging up to three times a week, he said during a visit to the wrestling club.
During the half-hour visit to the sports club, Scholz watched a training session of the young wrestlers, answered questions, inquired about the athletes’ careers and then posed for photos. On his summer trip through his constituency in Brandenburg, the Chancellor also visits sports clubs from time to time. Last year, Scholz stopped at a boxing club in Potsdam. But he did not put on the boxing gloves again.
