Are Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster in a marital crisis? The singer is now speaking out on Instagram.
Because they allegedly cannot agree on a common place to live, the marriage of Rod Stewart (79) and Penny Lancaster (53) is apparently not going well. The singer now apparently feels compelled to comment on the crisis rumors. “Penny and I couldn’t be more in love after 27 glorious years,” he says on his official Instagram account.
“We wanted to make this clear,” Stewart writes in the personal post. “There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement about where we should live, in fact it’s the opposite.” The couple, who have been married since 2007, are allegedly arguing about whether and when they will move permanently from Los Angeles to the UK. But that is not the case, as Stewart stresses.
The truth is different
The singer explains: “We moved back to our beloved UK permanently a year ago, but are lucky enough to also have homes in various countries that we enjoy visiting. We originally thought it made sense to sell our house in Los Angeles, but after spending a wonderful time there with family and friends this summer […]we realized it made sense to keep our house there.”
Last year, the English-born actor announced that he wanted to make his British home his main residence and sell his house in the USA. Recently, however, the British “Daily Mail” and others reported that he is now refusing to give up his house in the USA for good. “They are at a stalemate and Penny is angry that Rod has broken his word. Right now it’s about saving their marriage,” an anonymous source fueled crisis rumors.
Finally, Stewart stresses that he and his Penny couldn’t be more in love. “Please trust me on this… There is no disharmony in our marriage.” He signs the statement with “Rod ‘a very lucky man’ Stewart.”
