Angelina Jolie wants to leave Los Angeles. But she suggests that she cannot do so yet because of her divorce from Brad Pitt.
Angelina Jolie (49) has spent a long time of her life in Los Angeles. But the actress and director is apparently fed up with the metropolis. In the conversation, she talks about the city and says that her divorce battle with Brad Pitt (60) is apparently preventing her from leaving Los Angeles behind. But the wait for a newfound freedom should be over for Jolie in about two years.
“I’m here because I have to be here because of a divorce”
“I grew up in this city. I’m here because I have to be here because of a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” says Jolie. She’s referring to her youngest children, 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. The former acting couple have four other children together, who are already grown up: Shiloh (18), Zahara (19), Pax (20) and Maddox (23).
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace and security,” Jolie continues. “I have a house now where I can raise my children, but sometimes this place can… the humanity that I found everywhere else in the world is not what I grew up with here.” The 49-year-old’s plan is to then spend “a lot of time in Cambodia” and visit her family members “wherever in the world they may be.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt married in 2014 and have been separated for years. She filed for divorce in September 2016, and since then a war of roses worthy of the dream factory has been raging. A judge declared the former couple legally single in 2019, but according to media reports, there are still disputes in the divorce negotiations today.
