Primavera Sound 2024 cancellation announced: what will happen with tickets?

What had been increasingly strong rumors became reality this Friday. Through their social networks, Primavera Sound festival announced that the 2024 edition will not be held in South Americawhich had its headquarters in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Montevideo and AssumptionIn Argentina, the event was to take place on November 23 and 24, in Sarmiento Park.

The 2023 edition was a real success, with the return of The Cure to the country and the return to the stage of Blurso fans were looking forward to knowing the lineup of what would have been the third edition of the festival from Spain. Even at the end of last year’s event, The organization itself launched early birds (advance tickets at a lower price), which now must be reimbursed.

That grid never arrived, and what was an open secret ended up becoming a reality with the announcement from the organizers: ”As was proven in 2022 and 2023 with our arrival in Latin America in various territories and formats, Any Primavera Sound event is based on rigorous quality standards, no matter where it is held. “It is the level of self-demand in artistic, organizational and production terms that has consolidated us in the first line of music festivals in the world,” begins the statement.

”Our reunion plans scheduled for late November and early December of this year, with festivals in Buenos Aires and São Paulo and Primavera Day in Montevideo and Asunción, unfortunately they will have to wait. Current circumstances lead us to communicate that Primavera Sound will not take place in Latin America in 2024because external difficulties prevent us from holding events that are up to the standards that the public who has supported us so much deserve,” they added.

Finally, they assured that This cancellation does not mean that the festival will not be held again in the region.but surely for many of the people who bought their tickets it will be hard to believe that Primavera Sound will see the light again in our country: ”This is undoubtedly a difficult decision, taken after many months of work and after undertaking numerous avenues to be able to celebrate these events with guarantees. Of course, our work does not end here. Nor our ties with Latin America, where we have felt welcomed from the first second by an enthusiastic and caring community that has embraced this festival model as its own.

”With the conviction and hope that Primavera Sound will return stronger to Latin AmericaWe are already looking to the future to make it happen as soon as possible,” they concluded.
