Serena Williams and Alicia Keys: “So much fun” together at the US Open

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (33) was able to enjoy special support during his victory over Russian Andrey Rublev (26) at the US Open. Serena Williams (42) and Alicia Keys (43) cheered him on from the stands. The two women obviously seemed to have had fun: They let their emotions run free, posed beamingly for the photographers and took selfies, which they later posted on social media.

Pictures show the former tennis player and the singer attending the round of 16 match on September 1 in New York City. The friends repeatedly raised their hands and cheered Dimitrov loudly. During the breaks between sets, they chatted animatedly and took photos of themselves. Other celebrities such as singer John Mayer (46) and “Bridgerton” creator Shonda Rhimes (54) also watched the almost four-hour match in the audience.

Williams and Keys have “pure sister energy”

After the match, both Serena Williams and Alicia Keys posted photos of themselves together on their social media pages. “So much fun at the US Open,” the athlete captioned the photos, to which Keys commented: “Pure sister energy! Nothing but love and respect and a fun time! What fun today!”

On her own page, she talks about the “New York energy” and her “sister” Serena. Both also promoted the musical “Hell’s Kitchen” with Alicia Keys’ music on Broadway, which tells her life story in a semi-autobiographical way.

Grigor Dimitrov is pleased about the support

Grigor Dimitrov, who reached the US Open quarterfinals for the first time in five years, was of course not without the active support of Williams and Keys. “Playing in front of her doesn’t make me nervous. I’m happy that she’s here. The atmosphere was great,” he enthused after his victory over his good friend Serena. It was “fantastic” to play in front of “friends and family”. On September 3, Dimitrov will face the American Frances Tiafoe (26) in the semifinals of the US Open.
