The US actor and singer James Darren has died. Darren died in a clinic in Los Angeles, according to his website. His son Jim Moret told the trade magazine “Hollywood Reporter” that he wanted to have his aortic valve replaced, but was too weak. According to the report, the actor died on Monday at the age of 88. “I always thought he would make it because he was so cool. He was always cool,” Jim Moret was quoted as saying.
Singer Nancy Sinatra, daughter of entertainer Frank Sinatra (1915-1998) posted photos of James Darren on the platform X and wrote: “I wish him a quick and beautiful journey through the universe and beyond. Safe journey, dear Jimmy.” According to the post, Darren was the godfather of Sinatra’s daughter AJ.
Darren played roles in the US police television series “TJ Hooker” alongside William Shatner and Heather Locklear. He also had roles in many other series, including the science fiction series “Time Tunnel” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”. His song “Goodbye Cruel World” reportedly reached number 3 on the Billboard charts in 1961.
