Daniel Craig finally says goodbye to Bond: In Venice he shows off his new casual look

Nothing reminds us of James Bond anymore: With long blonde hair and a casual outfit, Daniel Craig rocks the Venice Film Festival.

Former James Bond star Daniel Craig (56) has arrived in Venice. With relatively long blonde hair, dark sunglasses, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, the British film star made a particularly casual appearance when he got out of the water taxi at the Lido. Nothing reminds us of his successful role as the legendary secret agent 007.

New look for filming

The actor first surprised everyone with his new look last month. Excited fans have his new hairstyle to thank for his new film “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” (Netflix, 2025). The long hair and three-day beard were already seen in a first look picture. Craig returns to his legendary “Knives Out” role of private detective Benoit Blanc in the eagerly awaited sequel – just with a completely new look. Filming has been underway since June.

With his wife Rachel Weisz (54, “The Constant Gardener”) – in a black dress and sunglasses – he has now traveled to the romantic lagoon city to present his new film “Queer” as part of the film festival this Tuesday evening.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino (53), “Queer” is based on the semi-autobiographical novella by William Burroughs (1914-1997). Craig plays the American emigrant and war veteran William Lee, who has a romance with a younger man: Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey, 30) is a drug addict and discharged soldier from the Navy.

How will audiences react to the film?

early reviews suggest that viewers may be shocked by some of the film’s key explicit moments. One much-discussed scene shows Craig performing oral sex on Allerton.

Film festival director Alberto Barbera (74) believes that Craig delivered “the performance of his life” in “Queer” and added that he would be “surprised if we didn’t see the British actor at the Oscars next year.” It would be Daniel Craig’s first Oscar nomination ever.

The 81st Venice International Film Festival takes place from August 28 to September 7 at the Lido di Venezia.
