Cora Schumacher wants to hold on to her name. The name is her brand that she has built herself, she explains on Instagram.
Only recently, Cora Schumacher (47) announced that she wanted to take her maiden name Brinkmann again nine years after her divorce from Ralf Schumacher (49). But now there has been a surprising turnaround: as she emphasized on September 3, she now wants to keep her ex-husband’s surname after all.
“Now more than ever”
After the former racing driver posted a photo of himself and his partner for the first time in mid-July, celebrating his coming out, the former spouses engaged in a heated exchange on their Instagram channels. The trigger was Cora Schumacher’s interview in “Spiegel”, in which she spoke for the first time about her ex-husband’s coming out. The 47-year-old reportedly only found out about the news through the media “like the rest of Germany”. A statement that Ralf Schumacher did not want to take lying down. Both published private chat histories on their social media pages that were intended to support their statements.
In the meantime, she is “a little better,” explains Cora Schumacher. “Even though it would make many people happy: No, I haven’t lost my smile.” Then she lets the cat out of the bag: “And I’m going to keep my name – let me think about it – especially now. Now that everyone is upset about it.”
She had actually planned to give up the famous surname. In August, she was introduced as Cora Brinkmann on the RTL show “I’m a Star – The Legendary Hour After”. Now she explains: “But no, that has cost me enough pain and heartache. Cora Schumacher is my brand, which I built up on my own.” She is often enough called Caroline Brinkmann in private circles, so she would like to remain Cora Schumacher in public.
Divorced since 2015
Cora and Ralf Schumacher were married from 2001 to 2015. At the time of the divorce, they had already been separated for six years. Together they have a son, David (22).
