Every step you take these days causes you to break out in a sweat. So what should you wear to counteract this? Here are five fashion tips to help you cope with the heat.
The thermometer shows over 30 degrees and everyone is at a loss in front of the wardrobe: what should I wear in this heat? We have five tips for choosing an outfit to make the high temperatures a little more bearable.
Airy instead of tight
If the shirt is figure-hugging or the skirt seems to be wrapped around the body like a second skin, the heat is even harder to bear. The clothes stick, the sweat cannot dry and somehow this just makes everything more disgusting. Better: go for a loose-fitting shirt, put on a tunic or This way, the clothes don’t stick to the body and the heat doesn’t build up underneath. It’s also much more comfortable to wear. And: you don’t notice the odd scoop of ice cream too many so quickly. Also practical!
Linen and silk are the best materials on hot days
While we’re on the subject of comfort, the right material also plays a role. Synthetic fabrics are not a good choice in summer. The material, which is mainly made of plastic, prevents the skin from breathing. This creates unpleasant smells and makes you feel uncomfortable in the solid fabric. Better: fabrics made of natural fibers. Linen in particular is a good choice because it absorbs moisture and helps against the heat. It is a very light, thin fabric that is ideal for hot days – whether as a shirt, trousers or dress. Silk is a little more expensive, but also comfortable to wear. Cotton and viscose are also fabrics that feel good on the body on hot days.
Black is taboo: Better to wear light colors
Black attracts the sun: we’ve all heard this before. And it’s true: dark colors don’t reflect the sun, they absorb it. So you get hot more quickly in a black outfit, you sweat more and you can’t escape the heat. Light colors – or preferably white – are best for a summer look.
Leave closed shoes in the closet
Brogues and ugly sneakers always look good, but they are certainly not the best choice on summer days: feet sweat more quickly in them, unpleasant smells develop and none of this helps to make the heat any easier to bear. In half-open or open shoes, on the other hand, our feet do not swell as easily, can breathe and sweat less. If you don’t like wearing open shoes or sandals (especially in the office), or mules are a good and fashionable alternative.
Time for headgear
The sun is really strong at the moment. And we feel it most quickly on our heads. To protect yourself from overheating or even heat stroke, headgear is a must when you are outside. A straw hat or cap protects your eyes from bright light, protects your scalp from sunburn and offers shade to help you bear the heat better. A bucket hat is also a good choice. By the way: the tighter the mesh of a straw hat, the better the protection. As with clothing, linen or cotton are a good choice for caps to keep a cool head. And the headgear is always fashionable.
