Marius Borg Høiby is not allowed to come near his victim for six months. The Norwegian police have now decided this by means of a temporary injunction.
Last weekend was a festive one for the Norwegian royal family. Crown Prince Haakon’s sister, Princess Märtha Louise, married her partner Durek Verrett on the fjord. But one person was missing: the palace’s problem child, Haakon’s stepson Marius Borg Høiby. Mette-Marit’s son has been in the headlines for several weeks after he was arrested at the beginning of August. On the night of August 4, Borg Høiby attacked his partner. The accusation: bodily harm.
Norway Royals: Temporary injunction against Marius Borg Høiby
The police are investigating and a decision has already been made. A restraining order has been issued against Mette-Marit’s son. This means that he is not allowed to approach his victim for six months. The victim’s lawyer, Mette Yvonne Larsen, confirmed this to the Norwegian news agency NTB. “Until March 2025. This was deemed necessary, but I have no further comments,” Larsen said, according to the newspaper “Aftonposten”. “The basis for the restraining order is the victim’s wish,” “Aftonposten” quoted prosecutor Andreas Kruszweski as saying.
Marius Borg Høiby confessed to the crime himself shortly after the incident. “I committed bodily harm and destroyed objects in an apartment,” he said, explaining that he had been under the influence of cocaine. The Crown Princess’s son also revealed that he had mental problems.

Borg Høiby has disappeared in Italy
Since then, events have been unfolding rapidly in Norway. The media are shedding light on the 27-year-old’s drug past, while other ex-girlfriends have also made allegations. And Borg Høiby himself? He is said to be on holiday in Italy with a friend. Paparazzi photos showed him at the airport in Pisa last week.
Marius Borg Høiby is Mette-Marit’s first child from her previous relationship with businessman Morten Borg. As the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, he is part of the royal family, but not a working royal.
