Luke Mockridge has barely returned to the stage when he is already out of the picture again. In a podcast, he defames Paralympic athletes. And he seems to have stolen these unspeakable comments from another comedian.
Mockridge was once a great comedian. But with his latest “Jokes” he proves that he does not belong on the Olympus of German comedy. He has no respect. No respect for women – to whom he apologized profusely before his return to the stage this year after being accused of sexual assault in 2021. And no respect for people with disabilities. Everyone can now listen to this in the podcast “Die Deutschen”.
At the beginning of 2024, Luke Mockridge gave the star a detailed interview. My colleagues asked him specifically about the allegations of sexual assault against his ex-girlfriend Ines Anioli. They became public in 2021 when Anioli accused her ex-boyfriend in a podcast. Mockridge lost money, reputation and his career in the ensuing shitstorm.
The Cologne public prosecutor’s office began an investigation, but closed it due to a lack of evidence. Anioli was not the only woman who accused Mockridge of assault, but no case went to court.
“I had an almost sporting motivation to pick up women,” he told my colleagues in starand also that he liked to “pretend” things to women. He admitted that he had been an “asshole” but that he had learned from it.
I question this open display of remorse after recent events.
Luke Mockridge has apparently learned nothing
In the podcast “Die Deutschen”, the resurrected comedian now cracks jokes about the Paralympics (“The idea is wild!”) and then laughs with his co-host about the fact that people with disabilities compete against each other in sporting competitions.
These dialogues demonstrate the same weakness of character as the disrespectful behavior towards women for which Luke Mockridge just had to apologize so extensively.
Luke Mockridge apparently plagiarizes US comedian Shane Gillis
If the sayings sound strangely familiar: US comedian Shane Gillis – who was kicked off Saturday Night Life in 2019 for racist jokes – used the same unspeakable sayings in his stage show two years ago. Mockridge now seems to have used the same wording as Gillis, even with poorly translated anglicisms: “This idea is wild”.
Maybe it’s time for Luke Mockridge to seriously consider a new job. Not only is his “humor” no longer up to date, it’s not even really his own work.

His management and his proven crisis PR team will certainly advise him to make a public apology. But who will believe him this time?
Mr. Mockridge, I would like to ask you a question: Now that you have already made an unpleasant impression on women and are now insulting disabled people – what’s next? Racism? Jokes at the expense of refugees? The list of incredibly stupid comments against minorities has a few more points for you to work through – as much as you seem to be intent on triggering the biggest shitstorms possible.
