Born in Michelstadt, Hesse, in 1944, Horn later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. A scholarship enabled her to study at St. Martin’s School of Art in London before she moved to New York in 1972. In the same year, she made her first appearance at the fifth Documenta in Kassel.
