Deputies call for special session to discuss veto on pensions

The Chamber of Deputies called for a special session for this Wednesday at 11, with the aim of dealing with the veto on pensions imposed by the government of Javier Milei.

The opposition called for dialogue presented a request for a special session to reject Javier Milei’s veto on pensions. Radicalism, Encuentro Federal and Coalición Cívic requested a session for this Wednesday. However, to achieve their goal they will need the support of two-thirds of those present.

In addition, they will have to gather this aggravated majority to reject the presidential veto and insist on the law passed by Congress that grants the 8% bonus to compensate for January’s inflation, and establishes the parameters to update the assets of retirees and pensioners.

Instead, eThe ruling party is already working to ensure that the opposition does not get two-thirds: to do so, it must gather 86 votes, if all 257 legislators were present in the session hall.

The opposition will have no problem in gathering the 129 deputies to enable the session since they will have the presence of Unión por la Patria, which has 99 legislators. Now, the question is whether the UCR will have the 33 legislators that make up the force seated in their seats, since there was a version that there are about 7 who do not agree with rejecting the veto.

The reality is that the request for a special session was made by Fernando Carbajal from Formosa, Facundo Manes, Julio Cobos, Danya Tavela, Jorge Rizzotti, Carla Carrizo, Marcela Coli, Manuel Aguirre, Mariela Coletta, Marcela Antola, Fabio Quetglas, Karina Banfi, Pablo Juliano, Mario Barletta, Gabriela B. De Koninng and Martín Tetaz. The note was signed by 17 radicals and the question is what the rest of the block chaired by Rodrigo de Loredo from Córdoba will do, as well as the deputies of Innovación Federal. Meanwhile, the Civic Coalition will guarantee the presence of its six legislators and will also seek to hold a Federal Meeting.
