Jerry Cantrell’s new solo album
Named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, The multi-platinum artist will be releasing I Want Blood, his fourth solo album On October 18th, the powerful single “Vilified” begins to outline the proposal for an album that will be a real force. With the show in Argentina less than a month after the premiere, it will be one of the first times that Jerry Cantrell plays this fresh material, and what better way to do it than in front of one of the most enthusiastic audiences in the world?
I Want Blood is a powerful sonic journey with several twists: “Off the Rails” has that powerful rock vibe, “Afterglow” is atmospheric, “Throw Me a Line” hypnotic, “Let it Lie” dark, and “I Want Blood,” which gives the album its name, exudes groove. Cantrell’s unmistakable hallmark honesty and vulnerability persist throughout all the songs, from a perspective that contemplates both the outside and the inside.
Produced with Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), it was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC studio in Pasadena, California, and Cantrell describes it as a hard-hitting record, very different from its predecessor Brighten. “I feel a particular confidence in this record,” says Cantrell, “I think it is the best thing I have ever written and played, and definitely one of the best vocally”.
