HBO’s “Harry Potter” series has opened a casting call for Harry, Ron and Hermione

The casting call is seeking children aged between 9 and 11 in April 2025 who are residents of the UK and Ireland.

The search for the next Harry, Ron and Hermione has begun. HBO has opened a casting for the three stars of its next television series Harry PotterFans spotted the casting call circulating online on Monday and HBO confirmed its authenticity.

The casting call is seeking children who are aged between 9 and 11 in April 2025 and who are residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland.The announcement also indicates that casting will be inclusive of all races, ethnicities and gender identities.

The casting call for the Harry Potter series

“We are committed to inclusive and diverse casting. For each role, we ask that qualified actors apply, without regard to race, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other legally protected status, unless specifically stated otherwise.”

The application requires actors to submit two short films, including a poem or short story.but no “Harry Potter.”

“Prepare a poem or short story of your choice. It can be from your favorite book, a poem you love, a monologue from a play, or something you created yourself. Please, no ‘Harry Potter’. Use your own accent.“Maximum 30 seconds!” the casting call reads. The second video is “a short video that tells us a little about yourself, including your date of birth, height, and where you live. Also, describe any family members, friends, or pets that you have a particularly close relationship with. Use your own accent. One minute maximum.”

Two former Succession members will be the creative directors of the Harry Potter series

The duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylodwho come from working in Successionhave signed as screenwriter and director, respectively.

This comes four months after it was revealed that Gardiner was one of three finalists to win the award to reboot the classic children’s franchise for the small screen. Gardiner beat out Tom Moran and Kathleen Jordan to win the concert.

Gardiner, who was a consulting producer on seasons three and four of the family drama directed by Brian Coxwill serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Mylod, who directed more than a dozen episodes of the show, will direct several episodes and also executive produce.
