Elton John’s husband David Furnish is convinced that his partner will be there for their children for a long time to come.
While Elton John (77) addresses the topic of his own mortality in his new documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late”, his husband David Furnish (61) seems to want to concentrate more on the here and now and the positive. The film producer said that the scene in the new documentary in which his husband talks about not being there for important milestones of their children “frightened him very much”.
Elton “will probably outlive me”
“I don’t think that’s a conversation you want to have with your children. I don’t want to plant that seed in their heads,” said Furnish. He is sure that Elton John will live for a long time: “Elton has been through a lot, but he’s also strong as an ox. He almost never cancels concerts. He’s a strong man and a healer. He’ll probably outlive me. He’s just so tough.”
In his new documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” Elton John talks about how his two children are worried about his advanced age. He himself is also afraid of not being able to be present at important moments in their lives. The British singer has two sons, Zachary (13) and Elijah (11), with his husband David Furnish, who were born via surrogate mother.
In the new documentary, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, the music star describes in detail how the boys express fear of his death, as “People” reported. “They think about my mortality. They worry about my mortality.” After all, they loved their father – “so they want me to be there forever.” He would also like to be there forever. “I want to see them have children and get married. I don’t think I’ll be there by then. But who knows?” Elton John says thoughtfully. “You never know.”

“Elton John: Never Too Late” is a documentary by RJ Cutler (62) and David Furnish, which will be available on the streaming service Disney+ from December 13th. The film tells the story of the career of the singer, who has delivered hits such as “Your Song” (1970), “I’m Still Standing” (1983) and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” (1994). But it also shows the private Elton John, who has been married to Furnish since 2014.
