Actress Blake Lively surprised by shitstorm

Blake Lively advertises her latest film about domestic violence with roses and is met with a shitstorm. She obviously didn’t expect that.

Well-intentioned, poorly executed. This or something similar could be the modest conclusion of the latest marketing campaign by US actress Blake Lively for her current film “Just One More Time”. Many fans accused Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds of trivializing the film’s topic – domestic violence – by advertising flowers and other romantic gestures as well as recipe ideas and advertising their own lifestyle line. After recently it was mainly her critics who had their say, Lively is now speaking out for the first time herself about the allegations.

People Magazine quotes an anonymous source close to Lively as saying: The 37-year-old was “very surprised by the many dissenting voices and the drama.” It was important to her to address toxic relationships and domestic violence and thereby empower other women. The shitstorm made her feel like she was losing control, and she felt “very vulnerable and uncomfortable.” So it’s no wonder that the mother of four’s social media channels have been quiet for a few days.

Blake Lively gets backing

However, the actress will probably not retire completely. According to the insider, Lively is already working on new projects – and with great joy. And she can count on the support of numerous companions. For example, co-actor Brandon Sklenar, who plays Lively’s childhood friend in the film, strongly criticizes the shitstorm: “To denigrate the women who put so much heart and soul into the production of this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive and distracts from what this film is about,” the statement said.

Lively can also apparently count on the support of her best friend Taylor Swift. The singer may be holding back on promoting the film, but she seems to be supporting Lively behind the scenes. Life&Style magazine quoted an insider as saying: “She’s constantly calling and texting her to cheer her up and remind her not to let all the negativity get her down, that it’s normal when you have a big influence.”
