The Government confirmed the Increase in the amounts of the Food Card for October and The government has decided to expand the age range of beneficiaries who can access the benefit, raising the limit from 14 to 17 years.
The change in the age requirement to receive the benefit and the increase in the values were announced this Wednesday through Resolution 636/2024 of the Ministry of Human Capital, published in the Official Gazette.
Regarding the expansion of the group that will be able to qualify for assistance, the Executive considered in the official text that “it is essential to extend the age range of recipients to the age of 17, in order to be able to provide the aforementioned social benefit to a greater number of families in a situation of social vulnerability, in order to contribute to their food security in the context of the food and nutritional emergency that our country is going through.”
In this regard, it was established that “it is necessary to establish the appropriate mechanisms to adapt the current regulations in order to expand the universe of beneficiaries”, modifying the second paragraph of section 2) of the Operational Guidelines of the National Plan “Argentina against Hunger”, which includes the Food Card.
In this way, the modified text specifies that “priority will be given to those households with children and adolescents up to 17 years of age inclusive, pregnant women, mothers and fathers of children with disabilities, these without age limit, and mothers with seven or more children; and who receive respectively through the National Administration of Social Security (ANSES) the following non-contributory allowances: Universal Child Allowance, Universal Pregnancy Allowance for Social Protection, Allowance for Child with Disability, Non-contributory Pension for Mother of Seven or More Children”
At the same time, the law made official the increases in the values of the benefit announced by the portfolio led by Sandra Pettovello at the beginning of the month, through a statement in which it was highlighted that “the Alimentar Program increased by 138% since the beginning of the administration.”
This way, The new amounts to be received in October by households registered with one child aged 0 to 17 years will be $52,250; for those families with two children aged 0 to 17 years, the benefit will reach $81,936; and for households with three or more children aged 0 to 17 years, the benefit will grant a total of $108,062 per month.
