Taylor Swift thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the MTV Video Music Awards for the Video of the Year award with an anecdote.
Taylor Swift is used to superlatives and at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday evening she broke another record: The singer was awarded her 30th VMA. This means she has overtaken Beyoncé, who previously held the top spot with 25 awards. Swift won seven awards at the awards ceremony in New York this year – including in the top category for video of the year. She achieved this with the song “Fortnight” from the album “The Tortured Poets Department”for which she brought rapper Post Malone on board. During her acceptance speech, the 34-year-old became unusually private.
The video seems very sad, but the shooting was one of the most fun ever. “Something I will always remember is that whenever a scene was shot and I shouted ‘Cut!’ I heard someone applauding and cheering at the other end of the studio where we were shooting. And that one person was my friend”Swift said on stage. “Everything this man touches turns into happiness and joy and magic”she continued to rave to the cheers of the audience.

Taylor Swift celebrated at the VMAS without Travis Kelce
Kelce herself was not present at the ceremony. Swift nevertheless spent the evening in a good mood, dancing alongside her producer, musician Jack Antonoff and his girlfriend, actress Margaret Qualley, as well as model Suki Waterhouse. But Swift also got political on stage, calling on the audience to vote. “Please register to vote for something else that is very important – the upcoming presidential election”she said. The day before, Taylor Swift had announced on Instagram that she wanted to vote for the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
The MTV Video Music Awards were hosted by musician Megan Thee Stallion, who, on the 40th anniversary of the event, repeatedly recalled past, legendary moments of the show. For example, she came on stage wearing a green bikini top with a live snake wrapped around her, reminiscent of a performance by Britney Spears.
