Nicole Kidman mourns the loss of her mother and thanks her fans for their condolences in a post.
The Australian-American actress Nicole Kidman (57) recently suffered a heavy loss: her mother Janelle Ann Kidman (1940 – 2024) died at the age of 84. The “Moulin Rouge” actress thanked her fans for the “love and kindness” she experienced after her mother’s death.
“My sister and I, along with our family, want to thank you for the great love and kindness we have felt this week,” Kidman began her post, which included three photos of her mother. In addition to a single portrait of her mother, the actress posted two family photos, which show Kidman herself and her younger sister Antonia Kidman (54), among others.
“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our mother has meant more to us than we can ever put into words. Our entire family thanks you for respecting our privacy as we care for each other,” Kidman told her followers.
Great sympathy among celebrities
It is not only Kidman’s fans who are expressing great sympathy; numerous celebrities also expressed their condolences to the actress in the comments section of her Instagram post. “My deepest condolences to you and your family. I am blessed to have been in your presence. Rest in peace,” musician and singer Lenny Kravitz (60) commented on the post. US actress Michelle Pfeiffer (66) also commented on Kidman’s loss: “My condolences on your loss Nicole. I send blessings to you and your family.”
Nicole Kidman was actually supposed to have been awarded best actress on Saturday (September 7) at the Venice Film Festival for her role in the erotic thriller “Babygirl” (cinema release: January 16, 2025). However, the 57-year-old missed this honor due to the death of her mother. The actress was also absent from the premiere in Toronto on Tuesday (September 10).
