Justin Timberlake had to appear in court after he was caught driving drunk. He apologized and made an appeal to his fans.
His eyes are glassy and his gaze seems a little absent: That’s how the world saw superstar Justin Timberlake in June in his “mug shot,” a police photo taken at a police station in Sag Harbor on the east coast of the USA. According to a police report, he failed to stop at a stop sign, among other things. According to a court document, an officer said Timberlake’s breath smelled strongly of alcohol. The pop singer was unsteady on his feet. The photo caused a real scandal, as Timberlake was long considered the clean man of the music scene.
Justin Timberlake makes deal with prosecutor
At first he was mainly worried about his tour, which he felt was in danger after the negative headlines. Now Timberlake had to answer to the court in Sag Harbor. There he only pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of driving under the influence of alcohol and agreed to a deal with the prosecutor. Timberlake now faces 5 hours of community service and a $500 fine. His driver’s license will also be suspended for 90 days.
In front of the judge, the “Cry Me a River” star said he had had “time to reflect” since the incident and was disappointed in himself. “I found myself in a situation where I should have taken a moment,” “Page Six” quoted Timberlake as saying. “I understand and appreciate the seriousness of this matter.”
Appeal to the public
The music star also addressed a few words to the public. In front of the assembled press, he said with a serious expression: “This is a mistake I made, but I hope that everyone who is watching and listening now can learn from this mistake.” He has a request for everyone who is listening to him: “Even a drink – don’t get behind the wheel of a car,” says Timberlake.
