In 1943 he began his dream by traveling to Buenos Aires, he made his first weapons singing at the La Rueda de La Boca bowling alley, he stayed in a boarding house in the same neighborhood and kept working as a cook and fireman.
His first opportunity was in the Orchestra of Herminio Gimenez For those who sang traditional Paraguayan songs in Guaraní, in 1955 she joined the communist party, this closed many doors for her, however in 1957 Radio Belgrano broadcast its first hit, “El mensú” (De Ramón Ayala).

After the premiere of the feature films “Si se calla el cantor” and “La Vuelta de Martín Fierro” he began to be threatened by the parapolice group “Triple A”, in 1974 after an attack he must go into exile in Venezuela, Mexico and finally Spain. The military dictatorship made all his records disappear from the radios and confiscated all the record companies’ stocks, he was literally erased from the collective memory.
Despite this, in 1978 he decided to face the military junta and returned to the country, for this reason he was the victim of bomb attacks and constant threats. In 1983 with the return of democracy, he revived his career returning to tours and recitals, throughout his career he edited more than 70 albums that made him one of the greats of national folklore.
He obtained 15 Gold Records and a dozen Platinum, and in 2005 he won a Gardel Award. Already in 1985 he had been distinguished with a Platinum Konex as the greatest male singer in folklore. At the age of 91, death found him in his home in Lujan on January 13, 2017, his remains were buried the next day in the Jardin de Paz Oeste.
