Benji Gregory became famous with “Alf”. He died in June at the age of just 46. The coroner ruled his death an accident.
Former child star Benji Gregory (1978-2024) died in mid-June at the age of just 46. The actor’s family assumed that he died of heat stroke. A coroner has now determined the actual cause of death of Gregory, who became famous in the 1980s through the popular US sitcom “Alf”.
The death of Benji Gregory was an accident
The actor’s death was classified as an accident, as we report, citing available documents. The cause of death was a combination of extreme heat exposure and liver cirrhosis. According to “TMZ”, scarring of the liver was also found during the examination, but the cause of this has not yet been determined.
Rebecca Hertzberg-Pfaffinger, Gregory’s sister, reported that her brother had been found dead in a car next to his dog, who had also died, on June 13. She had written that the actor had apparently fallen asleep in his car and had not woken up. She and the family therefore assumed that it was heat stroke. She confirmed this to “TMZ” at the time.
Benji Gregory became a star as a child. In the 1980s he played the young Brian Tanner in the cult sitcom “Alf”. Before that he had played small roles in “The A-Team” and “TJ Hooker”. He retired from the film business in the 1990s.
