Cher and her son Elijah have reached an agreement without going to court. Out of concern, the artist wanted to appoint a guardian for the 48-year-old.
Cher (78) is apparently no longer fighting for a court-appointed guardian for her 48-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman. in the case. Allman’s lawyers confirmed this according to the report and said in a statement: “This outcome allows the parties to focus on healing and rebuilding their family ties, a process that began during mediation and continues to this day.”
Cher’s lawyer also said that the parties had settled the matter privately after mediation: “The plaintiff now wishes to end this legal process.” Cher is withdrawing her application. According to media reports, Allman’s lawyer said in court that he was “definitely” of the opinion that the matter had been settled.
Allman defends himself
According to US media reports, Cher had applied for her adult son to be placed under temporary guardianship because she fears that the large payouts to Elijah Blue Allman from the trust fund of his late father, musician Gregg Allman (1947-2017), put him in danger. The 47-year-old had struggled with drug problems in the past. Cher’s son and his legal team have repeatedly stated since the application for guardianship was first submitted that none of this is true.
In January, Cher had already suffered a defeat in the case in court. According to media reports, a judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court was not convinced that a conservatorship was urgently needed. In May, Allman told “Rolling Stone”: “I’m fine and I don’t need the help my mother is offering.” The two parties then agreed to stay the court proceedings and to go into mediation.
Elijah Blue Allman comes from Cher’s marriage to musician Gregg Allman. The two married in 1975 and divorced in 1979. In addition to the 48-year-old, Cher has another child: Chaz Bono (55), from her marriage to Sonny Bono (1935-1998). The couple were married from 1964 to 1975.
