The 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been arrested, according to police. Several Norwegian media reported that Marius Borg Hoiby was arrested for violating a contact ban.
Norwegian police confirmed on Saturday the arrest of Mette-Marit’s son from a relationship before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, without providing further details.
Hoiby was arrested once before in Oslo on August 4th and released from police custody the following day. According to the police, he was accused of assault and property damage. The victim was a woman who was in a relationship with Hoiby. The authorities said they had “no information that the victim had suffered serious injuries”.
In a statement, he later admitted to having physically attacked and injured his girlfriend. “After an argument, I committed bodily harm under the influence of alcohol and cocaine and destroyed objects in an apartment,” he said. His lawyer confirmed that Hoiby pleaded guilty.
Mette-Marit’s son Marius Borg Høiby has no public role
Hoiby grew up with his half-siblings from the marriage of Mette-Marit and Haakon, the 20-year-old Princess Ingrid Alexandra and the 18-year-old Prince Sverre Magnus. Unlike them, however, he has no public role.
