Stefan Raab vs. Halmich: These celebrities were cheering at the ring

In front of more than 13,000 spectators, Stefan Raab, 57, entered the ring against former boxing world champion Regina Halmich, 47, in the packed PSD Bank Dome. It was their third encounter in the ring. Fists flew in 2001 and 2007. Raab from Cologne lost both times to Halmich from Karlsruhe. For Raab, it was a TV comeback after years of being away from the screen.

Even before the show, a number of prominent guests jostled for their seats. Comedian Cindy from Marzahn, drag queen Olivia Jones and RTL’s “jungle king” Filip Pavlovic were among those eagerly awaiting the fight. “I’m not a boxing fan at all. But I’ll definitely watch it!” Olivia Jones told the German Press Agency.

Stefan Raab announces collaboration with RTL+

Although Raab lost the fight, the result quickly faded into the background when Raab announced: “I’ve decided: I’m going to do shows again.” It will start next week. The new show will be called “You won’t win the million here with Stefan Raab” and will be broadcast on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. on the streaming service RTL+. It is, so to speak, “the first entertainment quiz competition hybrid show in the world,” as Raab put it. Everything he is good at will be shown in it. Among other things, he will also “dissect” the events of the week and there will be a million euros to be won every week.

But it won’t stop with the shows. Raab – who for years shaped competitor ProSieben with his shows – will now be a permanent face of RTL. He has signed a five-year exclusive contract, the Cologne-based private broadcaster announced. Plans include “various sensational primetime shows”.

Transparency note: The star belongs to Germany.
