The athlete Jaan Roose is known for his daring ventures. Now the 32-year-old has crossed the Turkish Bosporus Strait on a slackline – no one has dared to do that before him.
Extreme athlete Jaan Roose has crossed the Turkish Bosporus Strait, which separates Europe from Asia, on a rope. The adventurer is the first person to overcome this obstacle between the two continents using a slackline, according to sponsoring beverage manufacturer Red Bull.
Roose covered 1,074 meters on the slackline on Sunday. The athlete balanced for 47 minutes at heights of up to 165 meters. The Bosporus runs through the city of Istanbul. Pictures show the 32-year-old floating with a safety rope over the so-called Bridge of the Martyrs of July 15th in strong winds. “I made history, so I’m very happy!” he said afterwards, according to Redbull.
