James Middleton has written a book in which he revealed a lot of private information. Princess Kate’s brother describes the first meeting between his wife and the royals.
James Middleton, the younger brother of Princess Kate, has been married to his wife Alizee since 2021, and the two have had a son together for a few months. He met the Frenchwoman in 2018: she thought he was a waiter, he invited her to the drink she had ordered from him and left his number. Middleton describes this in his first book “Meet Ella – the dog who saved my life”, which will be published next week. The British gossip magazine is sharing excerpts from it in advance. Among other things, Middleton reports on the unusual circumstances that prevailed at his wife’s first meeting with his famous sister Kate and her husband William.
After attending a wedding near his parents’ house, he and Alizee spontaneously decided to stay overnight at Middleton’s parents’ house. The couple sneaked into the building as quietly as possible at night. The next morning he was woken up by giggling, Middleton writes. “It’s George and Charlotte, my nephew and niece. I didn’t know that all three children were staying with my sister and William for the weekend.” Since Alizee was still asleep, he took the children into the kitchen, where Prince William and Princess Kate were sitting having breakfast tea. “I’m just about to take a cup up to Alizee when she appears at the kitchen door,” Middleton remembers. “She’s just gotten out of bed, her hair is still disheveled – and she’s wearing one of my shirts.”

What would be an extremely embarrassing idea for many to meet the family for the first time, let alone the royal family, did not bother his now wife in the slightest. “In such situations, Alizee is wonderfully French. She did not panic or rush upstairs to get dressed. Instead, she just greeted everyone warmly, as if it was not the least bit unusual to meet her boyfriend’s sister and brother-in-law for the first time wearing only an oversized man’s shirt,” writes James Middleton. George and Charlotte then asked a thousand cheeky questions and apparently broke the ice so quickly.
The light anecdote from Middleton’s book is mixed in with serious topics that he also addresses in it. He writes about his struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, and reports that he and his family went to see a therapist. His dog Ella, who has since died, helped him during the difficult times. His book is therefore an autobiography that describes how Ella supported him over the years in the most formative moments of his life.
