Pamela Anderson will be honored at the Zurich Film Festivalwhich will be held from October 3 to 13. On October 4, she will receive the festival’s Golden Eye Award in recognition of her professional achievements, before presenting The Last Showgirldirected by Gia Coppola.

The festival commented: “Director Gia Coppola has created a touching and bittersweet tribute to a dancer in the twilight of her career with this Las Vegas night movie. Pamela Anderson gives a moving performance in the perfectly cast title role.”


Christian Jungen, artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival, commented: “Pamela put her heart and soul into the character of Shelley and captivated us from the very beginning. She immersed herself completely in her character, transforming Shelley’s inner life with her facial expressions and making sure that we sympathised with her.
And he added: “A magnificent performance, perhaps the best of his career, which deserves an Oscar nomination. “That’s why we are delighted to pay tribute to Pamela Anderson, this cult actress who many of us grew up with and who has reinvented herself time and time again, at the Zurich Film Festival.”
What is The Last Showgirl about?
In the film, Anderson plays Shelley, a 50-year-old showgirl. When her Las Vegas show is cancelled after 30 years, she faces an uncertain future and attempts to mend her relationship with her long-neglected daughter with the help of fellow actress Annette, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.
The Last Showgirl was written by Kate Gersten. The cast also includes Kiernan Shipka, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista and Brenda Song.
