Apart from family escapades, the music icon has been quiet for a long time. Cher will appear as a runway act at the lingerie fashion show.
Since her last studio album in 2018, singer Cher (78) has disappeared musically. She hasn’t been seen on stage for a long time. Now the lingerie company Victoria’s Secret has announced the 78-year-old as a special guest at this year’s comeback show.
With the musical accompaniment of one of her biggest songs, “Believe,” and excerpts from the 1998 music video, the musical appearance of the “icon,” the “legend” on the catwalk of the lingerie presentation on October 15th is being heralded.
“No fashion show without the mother of fashion”
“It’s a woman’s world, so understandably you can’t do a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself,” the lingerie brand posted with the video. “We are so excited to announce that she will officially walk the runway at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15.”
The angels (as the flawless Victoria’s Secret models were often called) walked the catwalk every year until 2019, when the pompous presentation of the underwear trends was no longer held, alongside live acts by major musicians. This was also the case at the comeback show in October: “Cher will not be alone… Stay tuned for more announcements to come to round out our first-ever all-women lineup,” the American lingerie brand’s Instagram message continues.
Supermodels such as Tyra Banks (50) and Gigi Hadid (29) have already confirmed their participation.
After its debut show in 1995, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has become a spectacle in front of an audience of millions over the years. Top models such as Heidi Klum (51) as well as top-class music stars have been vying for a role. After Victoria’s Secret was heavily criticized for not being inclusive enough, the show was canceled in 2019.
