Princess Kate returns to work after chemotherapy

Princess Kate was hardly seen in public this year due to her cancer. Now she has apparently returned to royal work.

About a week after Kate returned from sick leave with a widely watched video, the Princess of Wales has apparently resumed her royal duties. As reported by the Guardian and the Evening Standard, among others, Kate chaired a meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. This means she has returned to work after around nine months, it was said.

At the beginning of the year, Kate had withdrawn due to an unspecified form of cancer and had hardly appeared in public since then. As the papers report, she has now been mentioned in the so-called Court Circular for the first time since her recovery. This lists and documents all of the official appointments of the working members of the royal family from the previous day. It appears in selected British media and online. The Princess of Wales, as patron of the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, held a meeting at Windsor Castle in the afternoon, the papers quote from the minutes.

Kate announced return to work

The file does not say what the meeting was about. The Guardian speculates that it could be about the princess’s “Shaping Us” campaign, which was launched last year. This focuses on the early years of childhood as formative for the rest of one’s life and personality development.

It is only the third time since her illness was announced that the Princess has appeared in the Court Circular. During her chemotherapy, she did some work behind the scenes and met with her staff and representatives of the “Center for Early Childhood”, but these activities were not officially documented, writes the “Evening Standard”.

In the video mentioned at the beginning, Kate says that after her recovery and the end of chemotherapy, she wants to return to royal work step by step. So her name will probably appear more often in the Court Circular in the coming weeks.
