Traditionally, the Dutch royal family appears to the people in The Hague on the so-called Prinsjesdag. King Willem-Alexander opened the parliamentary year on Tuesday with the “Troonrede” and read out the government’s plans. Dutch politicians then explained the draft budget for the coming year.
The king and his wife Queen Máxima, as well as their two daughters Crown Princess Amalia and Princess Alexia, drove to the Royal Theatre in carriages and waved from the balcony of Noordeinde Palace, very close to the Dutch Parliament. Only one person was missing: Princess Ariane, the youngest of the three royal daughters, was not there. She goes to school in Italy and probably missed the royal event for that reason. The most beautiful pictures.
