After Beyoncé was left out of the most important country music award, Dolly Parton has now commented on the matter.
There was great excitement among fans of music superstar Beyoncé (43) over a week ago when her country album “Cowboy Carter” and the single “Texas Hold ‘Em” went empty-handed at the Country Music Association Awards. Beyoncé did not receive a single nomination for the awards ceremony taking place on November 20 in the country mecca of Nashville. Her fans also suspected racist reasons in the classic white music scene. Country legend Dolly Parton (78), however, cannot understand the excitement over Beyoncé’s rejection.
Dolly Parton speculates about Beyoncé’s exclusion
Parton, who has enjoyed success as a country musician since the 1960s, said that she only recently realized that Beyoncé was not included in the nominations. She says that the possible reason for this is not racism, but the sheer amount of talent currently available in the music genre.
“There are so many wonderful country artists, and I guess the country music industry probably thought we couldn’t leave out some of those who spend their whole lives doing it,” Parton said.
Beyoncé was not excluded. Rather, the nominations for the CMA Awards honored artists such as Morgan Wallen (31), Chris Stapleton (46) and Cody Johnson (37), “who do this all the time, and not just on a special album.”
At the same time, however, Parton is full of praise for the music star. With “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé has created a “wonderful album” that she can be “very, very proud” of, said Parton. She also “welcomed everyone to country music.”
