Who will be the musicians accompanying the Gallagher brothers on the return of Oasis?
Initially, reports claimed that “no other original members of Oasis were expected to join the reunion”, and that members of High Flying Birds Noel Gallagher would replace the rest of the band.
However, many began to speculate that Oasis co-founder and original guitarist, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurswould come with them on tour dates.
The guitarist has remained close to Liam and has already joined him on several of his numerous solo tour dates. Last month, The Sun reported a source as saying: “Bonehead is confirmed. They both wanted him in the group and he was one of the driving forces behind the reunion. Noel has also brought some of his band along.
“The Oasis family has really come back together. Bonehead is ecstatic”.
Bonehead has previously expressed interest in touring with Oasis. Last year, he was asked if he would be willing to join the Gallaghers for a reunion, to which he replied: “I’m ready, I’ve got my dancing shoes on.”
Shortly after, the drummer Alan White got fans talking when he posted a picture of his drum kit featuring a spiral Union Jack design. The design was seen on the head of the bass drum and was the same one that appeared on Oasis’ first demo tape.
The percussionist was the Britpop band’s longest-serving drummer, having been part of the line-up from 1995 to 2004.
More recently, reports emerged that the guitarist Gem Archer Gem joined Oasis in 1999 after replacing Arthurs and played with the band until they split in 2009. He also performed with Beady Eye before joining Noel Gallagher in 2017.
“None of the band members are 100% confirmed yet, but Gem seems very likely to join Bonehead”a source told The Mirror. “The key is to get people that both brothers get on with and respect, and ideally they would have been in the band before too.”
“Gem ticks all those boxes and has also contributed to writing some Oasis songs. He’s an obvious target and it would be a huge surprise if he wasn’t on stage during the UK tour. He knows the songs, he knows the band inside out and he’s toured with the Gallaghers before so he knows what he’s getting into.”
