Linkin Park comeback: Chester Bennington’s mother also criticizes

After his son Jaime, Chester Bennington’s mother has now also spoken out about the Linkin Park comeback. She feels betrayed.

The fact that the band Linkin Park is celebrating its comeback with a new front woman in place of Chester Bennington, who died in 2017, is not only causing a storm of jubilation. The singer’s family in particular is sometimes harshly critical. After his son Jaime Bennington (28) recently spoke out, his grandmother Susan Eubanks has now struck the same note and made serious accusations against the other band members.

She “feels betrayed,” says Chester Bennington’s mother, who immediately explains the reason for these feelings: “They promised me that they would let me know when they did something together again. But they didn’t let me know. Probably because they knew that I wouldn’t be particularly happy about it. I’m deeply disappointed by that.” In fact, she only found out that Emily Armstrong (38) would be singing her son’s part in the future when she happened to read it on Google.

Eubanks also revealed that she was only able to watch the newly formed band’s first livestream performance for a short time before she had to turn it off. Armstrong’s singing certainly didn’t convince her. And then she repeated the criticism that her grandchild had already expressed: “They are trying to erase the past by any means possible.”

This is what Mike Shinoda says about the allegations

The son of the late Linkin Park singer had harsh words for his bandmate Mike Shinoda (47) on Instagram on September 9. “You erased my father’s life and legacy in real time – and during International Suicide Prevention Month,” he wrote in a series of Instagram stories.

Shortly afterwards, Shinoda responded to the criticism at the start of Linkin Park’s tour in Los Angeles and asserted: “It’s not about erasing the past.” As he continued in his speech towards the end of the show, the band wanted to start a new chapter and play for the fans. “We love playing for you. We love writing this music,” he said, explaining the reason for the comeback.

The criticism has so far not harmed the worldwide success of the comeback. With “The Emptiness Machine” the US band made it to number one in the official German single charts for the first time, as determined by GfK Entertainment.
