Eva Mendes: After her motherhood, she searched for her identity

Eva Mendes spoke to Drew Barrymore about the challenges of motherhood.

Eva Mendes (50) felt “a bit lost” as a mother for a while, as she said in a conversation with Drew Barrymore (49).

the actress asked her colleague how she felt after the birth of her children. Barrymore talked about her own experiences: “I felt a little lost when I had children, in the sense of, ‘I don’t know how to do this job and how to be this other person.’ How was that for you?” Drew Barrymore has two children, Olive (11) and Frankie (10), from her relationship with her ex-husband Will Kopelman.

Mendes: “Who am I now?”

Mendes, who is raising two daughters with her partner Ryan Gosling (43), replied that she only felt this way when the children were a little older: “I didn’t actually feel lost. I felt very clear, but then I felt lost, if that makes sense.” Mendes continued: “Then I sort of fulfilled the cliché and asked myself, who am I now that the children are surviving without me?”

Mendes’ daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, are now eight and ten years old. “They don’t need me every second anymore, you know, it’s different now.” Nevertheless, the relationship between mother and daughters seems to be very good: “I love chatting with my girls about everything, I feel very fulfilled.”

Actress Eva Mendes and Hollywood star Ryan Gosling have been together since 2011. The two usually keep their private lives strictly under wraps.
