Sexual exploitation: property to be auctioned to provide direct compensation to two victims

In one legal case for the promotion and facilitation of the prostitution, the auction of a property in the City of Buenos Aires with the aim of directly repairing two victims of sexual exploitation.

The Program for the Advice and Promotion of Rights of Victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons of the Office of the Public Defender of the Nation (DGN) announced the decision that aims to directly assist the victims.

The auction of the property located in the City of Buenos Aires will take place on Tuesday, October 1st at 10:30 a.m. with the aim of directly compensating, with the money obtained, two victims of sexual exploitation.

“Full and effective reparation is a right of victims of human trafficking and exploitation, which is widely recognized in international human rights treaties and instruments, as well as in the national regulatory framework, through Law 26,364 and its amendment Law 26,842.”

It is a measure that seeks to remedy the damage suffered by the victims and contribute to their long-term social inclusion, and their access to education, housing and employment, so that they can rebuild their lives.

The property

It was reported that The property to be auctioned is an apartment located in CABA, in Suipacha between Tucumán and Viamonte. This is the place that was confiscated in a case in which convictions were handed down.

Those interested in attending the auction must register in advance through the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation’s website (www.csjn.gov.ar), at the link Auction Office – Procedures: registration shifts; and must appear on the assigned day and time at Jean Jaures 545, PB, CABA, with the form indicated on the site. The property will be exhibited on September 27 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Program for the Counseling and Promotion of Rights of Victims of the Crime of Human Trafficking

It was created in 2014 by the Office of the Public Defender of the Nation to intervene in the defense and promotion of the rights of victims of trafficking and exploitation.

The right to reparation is one of the main axes of the Program coordinated by Marcela Rodriguez, The aim of this project is to develop strategies to advance better responses from the judicial system, through the presentation of amicus curiae, technical reports and opinions; technical assistance to the Public Defenders of Victims (DPV); training; and the preparation of publications and articles on the subject.

The DPVs and the working teams that represent victims of the crime of human trafficking and exploitation may request advice and reports from the DGN Program on the identification and assessment of damages, in the specific case, to request compensation for those assisted.
