After her battle with breast cancer, Olivia Munn happily announced the birth of her second child via surrogate on Instagram.
The acting couple Olivia Munn (44) and John Mulaney (42) have announced the birth of their second child. Munn wrote on joint photos, which show them with the baby in the hospital, among other things: “Méi June Mulaney was born on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon.” The actress also gave insights into her inner life after the birth of her daughter via surrogacy.
Surrogate mother made “dreams come true”
“I had such deep feelings about not being able to have my daughter. When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother,” Munn recalled. “She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found a true angel. Words cannot express my gratitude for protecting our baby for nine months and making our dreams come true.” She is so proud of her daughter, “my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us. My heart exploded.” The actress also explained her baby’s name: “Méi (pronounced Mai) means plum in Chinese.”
Four months after Munn revealed her “terrifying” cancer diagnosis in March, she married John Mulaney last July. The “Saturday Night Live” star and the “X-Men” actress secretly tied the knot in a simple, intimate ceremony at a friend’s house in upstate New York, reported US “People” magazine. Their son Malcolm (2) was born in November 2021.
In February 2023, Olivia Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was followed by a double mastectomy and reconstruction of her breasts. In total, she had four operations in ten months. In April 2024, Munn also underwent a hysterectomy to remove her uterus. In May 2024, she revealed that she had already frozen her eggs three times – at the age of 33, at the age of 39, and most recently shortly after her cancer diagnosis at the age of 42.
