“Bavarian Cabaret Prize”: Surprise laudator for the main prize

The main prize of the “Bavarian Cabaret Prize” goes to the cabaret artist Florian Schroeder – his laudation is a real surprise.

The winners and their laudators of this year’s “Bavarian Cabaret Prize” have been announced and once again there are some surprising names among them.

The main prize

This time, the main prize goes to the cabaret artist, author and presenter Florian Schroeder (45). “When I found out that I was going to receive the Bavarian Cabaret Prize, I was stunned. As a Prussian, I get the Rolls-Royce… er, the BMW of all the prizes? Crazy! Bavaria – from now on you won’t be able to get rid of me!”, says the Lörrach native happily.

His laudator is a real surprise: the Hamburg SPD politician and former candidate for chancellor in 2013 Peer Steinbrück (77). Schroeder and Steinbrück have already been on tour together – with “Steinbrück presenting himself as a quick-witted entertainer,” praises the broadcaster.

The Music Prize

The music prize goes to the musical cabaret artist, cult songwriter, actor and rapper Bodo Wartke (47, “Barbaras Rhabarberbar”). The award will be presented by the brilliant Stuttgart author Marc-Uwe Kling (42, “Die Känguru-Chroniken”, “Das NEINhorn”) – and it has also been the other way around before.

“After having twice given a laudatory speech to great colleagues who have been awarded the Bavarian Cabaret Prize in the past, Marc-Uwe Kling and Miss Allie, I am delighted that I have now become a prizewinner myself – and that Marc-Uwe Kling will be giving a laudatory speech to me. This is where things have come full circle,” enthuses Bodo Wartke. “I see the fact that I, a native of Hamburg and a resident of Berlin, have been awarded the Bavarian Cabaret Prize not only as an extraordinary honor, but also as an act of international understanding,” he adds.

The High-Flyer Prize

This year’s whiz kid award goes to comedienne Ana Lucía (25). Ana Lucía Cruz Saco Lesevic, her full name, says: “I think that I’m getting the Bavarian Cabaret Award is almost as great as the question I was asked before the ceremony: ‘Would you like to accept it?’ I say ‘Thank you for the flowers’ and hope that I can make you as proud as you made me happy.”

The prize will be presented by last year’s winner, cabaret artist Teresa Reichl (born 1996).

The Creator Prize

The winner in the Creator Award category in 2024 is Phil Laude (34). The jury’s statement states: “In 2006, at just 16 years old, Phil Laude founded the comedy duo Y-Titty together with his friend Matthias ‘TC’ Roll, who initially produced funny videos using the simplest of means and broadcast them to the world. From the beginning of 2008, they ran their own channel on the then new Internet phenomenon YouTube.”

Laude is happy, but can’t resist making a little joke: “I just hope you don’t regret it, because the ‘Echo’ was abolished a year after I won it.” The award is presented by Oğuz Yılmaz.

The Honorary Prize

The honorary award goes to the comedy duo Claudia Schlenger (77) and Hanns Meilhamer (72). The comedian couple have been on stage together as Herbert & Schnipsi for over 40 years. The two will receive their award from cult cabaret artist Martina Schwarzmann (45).

Since 1999, the “Bavarian Cabaret Prize” has been awarded annually to artists from German-speaking countries. The 2024 award ceremony will traditionally take place on November 4th in the Munich Lustspielhaus and will be broadcast on BR television on November 7th.
